Hi,

 

You can connect the 5G WIFI. Usually, 5G will provide higher speed. You can also upgrade the firmware for the extender.

If the RE light is red, it means it is too far from the main router so the connection is poor so that the speed is affected. You can relocate it nearer to the main router and that would help.
