Hi there,

 

I'm opening this topic because I'm facing with an issue and I believe the source of the problem is my router. I have an Archer AX1800 TP-Link router and I'm using the TP-Share function of it. So I just siply plugged my USB stick into my router and then I connected to it via FTP (FileZilla, Terminal and additional options tested) from my Macbook Pro and I uploaded a video file to it. After that I can open the video file with my Macbook and Windows notebook as well from the USB stick, but my television cannot see it at all. It only see the older files what I copied to it on the regular way.

 

Any help or advice would be much appreciated!

Hi, thanks for posting question here.

You may refer to this guide to check.

I afraid TV is different from computers. It is suggested to contact your TV support to confirm whether it can work with normal wireless router as the way you want.

Dear @Marvin_S,

 

Many thanks for your input and sharing the guide with me! Actually I have already found that guide, but it's not relevant to me. I can access my USB stick via FTP if I plug it in to my TP-Link router as I have already mentioned in the topic.

 

I know that the TV is not a computer, but if I copy a movie file on the regular way to the USB stick, my TV can see it and can play it. If I copy the same movie file to my USB stick via FTP while it's plugged into my TP-Link router, then my TV does not see it at all. So there should be an issue with the second method.

 

I hope the case is much more cleaner now and sorry if I missed something important in my original description.

May I confirm whether your TV also get the file via FTP server?

Please share the screenshot of your USB settings on the management page of the router.

Did you reboot your TV or reconnect it to the router for a try?

Please share the model of your TV.

May I confirm whether your TV also get the file via FTP server?

 

If I leave my USB Stick in the router and I open it on my TV via network connection with VLC player, then the TV can see the new movie folder plays the movies as expected.

 

Please share the screenshot of your USB settings on the management page of the router.

The TV was restarted, but by default I would like to play the movies via my USB stick when it's connected to the TV and not to the router.

 

Please share the model of your TV.
