Region : UnitedKingdom

Model : TL-WA801ND

Hardware Version : V2

Firmware Version : 3.13.30 Build 130121 Rel.69318n

ISP : irrelevant to this

this one is driving me crazy, hope someone can help. we have a large house so i am planning on having a AP on top floor and ground floor.

Network 192.168.19.0, dhcp scope 192.168.19.100 - 192.168.19.100.253
server Os windows small business server 2011
router billion 7800n using EWAN port to connect to internet.
gateway: 192.168.19.1
subnet: 255.255.255.0

so i setup the ground floor tl-WA801N as a AP set to get its IP address via DHCP, 192.168.19.110 via dhcp reservation from the SBS server DHCP scope set on MAC address.
encryption: a WPA/WPA2 password set, version and encryption set to automatic, group keyupdate set to 30
ap name: SquirrelHm
DHCP server on unit turned off.
Channel: 11

All works fine on its own, can access net and log on / off network using any device IPAD/RetMacbook, devices get their correct dhcp reservations.

Now set up the 2nd tl-WA801N to use as top floor AP
ip via DHCP : 192.168.19.111
DHCP server on unit turned off.
use the AP'a config wizard to select UNIVERSAL REPEATER, use survey button to find the host AP, select it.
as soon as you hit save, i start getting another computer is using your ip address error boxes, even on a wired network computer.
encryption set as per above.

this basically totals the network and is network is only restored when the top floor router is powered off and reset to defaults.

what am i doing wrong? many thanks for any help.

Pete.

one TL-WA801ND (A) works as access point placed ground floor and the other (B) works as repeater placed top floor.
Internet ----port of TL-WA801ND (A) ) ) ) ) ) ( ( ( ( TL-WA801ND (B) ?
what's the LAN ip address of TL-WA801NDs?
it's unnecessory to do so many difficult settings. Just make sure there is no ip conflicts between A and B.
on A, just set SSID and wireless security type.
then, refer to the following link to configure repeater: http://www.tp-link.com/en/article/?faqid=250

steve,

thanks for the reply.

ip's of the units as follows

192.168.19.110 (a)
192.168.19.111 (b)

i followed the instructions you have linked to many times and the network just goes crazy as soon as you hit save. With lots of random messages about ip conflicts, only fixed when you turn off TL-WA801ND (B)

thoughts?

Pete.

apspete on #1 you posted as soon as you hit save, i start getting another computer is using your ip address error boxes,
have you try another ip from 192.168.19.111 (b).

if no luck do this, default your (b) RE use the same guide http://www.tp-link.com/en/article/?faqid=250
dont do step #2 reads
Step 2
Click Network. Please make sure the Repeater’s IP address is in the same IP segment

check if you still have ip conlficts
post back results, i use on my RE this set up

Universal repeater (and WDS repeater too) mode requires the LAN port to be physically disconnected (do not understand why this is still not documented)

To regain control, as soon as the AP has been rebooted, you have a small time window allowing to temporary configure the device in AP Mode

Then, while In this mode, setup everything as you need click "save" and disconnect ethernet cable.
