Model: Archer AX72 Pro
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.3.1 Build 20240426 rel.40133(4555)

I have 3 AX72 Pro routers in my home, one is facing the internet, other two are wired into the edge one.

It appears that the edge one was upgraded to "1.3.1 Build 20240426 rel.40133(4555)" but when I try to update the other two I get "Failed to connect to cloud server" error message.

I look on the firmware download page for AX72 Pro and there is no "1.3.1 Build 20240426 rel.40133(4555)" listed there ... latest appear to be "1.2.3 Build 20240125 rel.40575(4555)" : https://www.tp-link.com/ro/support/download/archer-ax72-pro/#Firmware

Also I have fiberlink1000 meaning I have speeds usually up to 800~900Mbps/s ... but recently it only goes up to 90Mbps and I don't know if it is due to this "1.3.1 Build 20240426 rel.40133(4555)" which apparently can not be found anywhere anymore ...

Please let me know if this firmware release was a screw-up, or just a delay in posting it on-line.

Hey @sharpaw

Have you tried using one of the AP routers as the main one? This way you can check whether the issue is caused by the latest firmware.

I guess you can't find the firmware on the website itself because maybe for now it's only being pushed to routers from the cloud and, for some reason, TP-Link hasn't yet uploaded it on the Archer AX72 Pro download page.

For "Failed to connect to cloud server" error, you can try and check if your router's time and date are correct. You can check it in router's Web GUI in "Advanced" > "System" > "Time & Language" section.

  @endless_despair

Yeah, I moved the routers and now speed is back on, however, after a few minutes the router with the update (1.3.1) looses internet connectivity for whatever reason (the internet led changes from GREEN to ORANGE)

I`ll use "R-1.3.1" to reference the router which was updated to 1.3.1 and "R-1.2.3" to reference the one which was not.

  • Internet --> R-1.3.1 --> R-1.2.3 --> speed < 100Mbps
  • Internet --> R-1.2.3 --> R-1.3.1 --> speed > 700Mbps BUT looses internet connection after a few minutes

Thank you for your suggestions but I was hoping to get an OFFICIAL answer here, since I currently don't trust to update my other 2 routers (not even sure it will be possible, since I suspect the 1.3.1 update was pulled off from the tplink cloud also.

But even if it would be possible, I would not trust updating without an official answer due to these statements mentioned in the 1.3.1 update :

New Features/Enhancement:

1. Enhanced the HomeShield feature;

2. Added WAN port speed display function on the APP;

3. Optimized the system stability;

4. Improved the device security.

Bug fixes:

1. Fixed some slow speed bugs;

2. Fixed the bug that Daylight Saving Time cannot be automatically switched on and off during the first quick setup.

Note: This firmware cannot be downgraded to the previous firmware.  <----------- YEAH, thanks a lot! :)

This is what I can see in logs of 1.3.1 :

Re:Was firmware '1.3.1 Build 20240426 rel.40133(4555)' for AX72 Pro pulled back?

I guess I was a bit hasty with my post above ....

I did another test :

  • Internet --> R-1.2.3 --> R-1.2.3 --> speed > 700Mbps but the problem with the internet connectivity persisted ... so led would turn orange after a few minutes

At this point, I sort of started suspecting that ISP perhaps had some problems a while ago when the speed was <100Mbps (R-1.3.1 --> R-1.2.3) --> but since the other two routers (1.2.3) were not able to locate the update file on the tplink cloud, I sort of suspected the firmware update....

That said, I check if the routers are capable to find the firmware upgrade now, and they did ... so I decided to went ahead and upgrade both to 1.3.1 ...

  • Internet --> R-1.3.1 --> R-1.3.1 --> speed > 700Mbps ... will see if the internet connectivity issue will go away or still persist ...
