Hello there,

I am struggling to find available options to power this switch with a battery. Usual batteries voltages go from 48V to 60V. However this switch input Vdc is set to 53.5. Has anyone in the community tried to power the device with a different voltage? Does anybody know what the input voltage range is? I could also use a dc-dc converter, if you guys know of one that doesn't exceed too much in price (60eur)

Thanks for posting in our business forum.

You should find a proper battery that meets 53.5 V DC / 0.81 A. If it exceeds the 53.5V, you should make sure the A is not too high.

This input of the switch does not mean it is using that much power at idle. It should use less power and require less input when it is idle. The max power output from your battery should meet the mentioned parameters so to supply enough PoE for the devices.

IEEE 802.3af (Standard PoE)

Operating within a voltage range of 44-57V and delivering a current of 10-350mA, IEEE 802.3af provides a maximum power output of 15.4W per port.

The input voltage range for the switch SF1005P is dictated by your company. That's why I am making this post, asking for if there is a range (like in the standard) for input voltage. Or the electronics are exclusively designed to work with 53.5Volts only. 

Finding a 53.5V battery makes no sense, usual off the shelf batteries are 48 or 60volts... Only option would be to get a buck boost dcdc converter. But I wanted to ask tp-link specialists first, using this forum.

I don't know what specific device you are gonna use. Based on what you described, it seems that you need a connection like a power outlet(output)---(input)OME adapter/battery(output)---(input)PoE switch(802.3 output 44-57V)---(input)PD.

Then, the switch output does not matter but you need to make sure the input watt on the switch can meet the max PoE budget.

 

If you are not gonna use the adapter we include in the package, then you should find a proper power adapter/battery or whatsoever that can provide/meet the provided output power from the adapter and provide enough power.

The recommended specs are listed on the official product page.

For the power input adapter/battery, you should get a list of adapters/batteries that fit the maximum power watts it gets. The rest of the amp and voltage should not be a problem because the male connector would increase along with the increase of the power. Range of 53.5V and 0.81A should not get you an absurdly large-size adapter male connector.

 

If you are gonna use the adapter we include for you, you should get a 100-240V input power for the adapter. Then it converts to the proper output power that can suffice the switch.
