Archer BE19000 (BE800) excessive RAM usage
Hi,
I've been using Archer BE800 purchased on Amazon for a few days now, my configuration consists of a 2.4GHz IoT network where an average of 18 clients are connected (cameras turned off during the day, various Amazon Echo devices, some smart plugs, Sonos speakers).
I have 5GHz wifi active (where I connect one PC) and 6GHz wifi active.
I see that the router's RAM consumption is always around 57% while CPU consumption is around 13%.
I have not activated any particular service and I have also deactivated the LEDs and if I add other devices to the network, the RAM consumption increases.
I noticed that the RAM usage graph in the app is different from the one in the GUI.
I also notice that on the Tether app I have 57% RAM usage, instead from the GUI I see one percentage point less I see the value at 56%
Before this router I had an old Asus with 1 GB of RAM and the same devices connected, but the RAM consumption of the Asus Router was significantly lower.
Is it normal for the router BE800 use all this RAM for the few connected devices?

@EliaC Looks about the same as mine, 9 clients around 62% memory usage. I wouldn't worry until it got over 90-95 then there would be some issues.

Hi, TP-Link router and your Asus router do not belong the same system, so it is not proper to compare RAM usage directly.

This model actually has 2GB of ram but Tplink firmware lock to1GB only.
If Tplink stop false product segregation, and unlock firmware to use 2GB, you will see RAM usage drop to 25-30% easily. All WIFI7 MLO routers should use 2GB IMO and BE800 already have the hardware so it is stupid and e-waste to softlock the OS.

Are you sure that the be800 has 2GB of RAM?
Is it not possible to ask TP-Link for an improvement and make sure that both 2GB of RAM are used from OS ?
I am sure that if TP-Link made its products compatible and available to openwrt its sales would increase by 200%

I know well that Asus and Tp-Link use a different operating system, in my life I have used Cisco, Draytek, Netgear, Asus and now Tp-Link routers.
An optimized software, with many features both for simple use and for the more expert and the possibility of being able to use an open firmware (see for example openwrt) is the key to increasing sales and to having heterogeneous customers.
Can you request an improvement and make sure that the RAM is used to its fullest extent.
Also a user reports that the be800 has 2GB of RAM but the firmware only shows 1GB.
Can you verify if it is true that the BE800 has 2GB of RAM and only uses 1GB? And if so, can you open an improvement on this?

Yes i have included the review link earlier, it has internal photos.
BE800 is using qualcomm networking pro 1220 design platform using IPQ9574/9570 embedded board. It has 2GB of dual channel memory built in

Looking at all the Device Tree in the linux and u-boot source there is only definition of a 1Gb RAM with around 200Mb reserved memory, whichc means 800Mo left. Yet this is far enough for the router to operate even with all the cloud bloatware tp-link adds to it...
