Model: Deco X50
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

I understand the strategy of dead simple user facing configuration. I'm replacing my AX50's since one burned out and figured this would be an upgrade not a downgrade. I have gone back and read the fine print. I don't understand how this critical detail is not front and center on the box. You have contents, specifications and all kinds of features. No customer requirement.

You are breaking 20 years of convention. Please explain how a user is expected to know the app is a requirement prior to purchase?

Put basic webui or even CLI or when these age out the replacement will not be tplink. I've been fooled once, I won't be fooled again and I will warn everyone I know.

  @wbrb

Hi,

Thanks for your feedback on TP-Link Community.

There is a reminder on the Deco's package that tell the users the Deco APP is needed to set up the Deco devices.

Just like the picture as below:

Also, the blog on the TP-Link official website introducing Deco Mesh also mentions relevant information.

It would be easy to finish the configuration process with Deco APP, and with the APP you can simply control and manage the Deco system and get information both remotely and locally.

On the Deco webpage there are limited information and settings.

If you prefer to manage only via webpage, you may consider the TP-Link SOHO routers.

  @Sunshine Thank you for the corporate approved non-answer that is not a requirement and does not specify the app is not available for x86/x64 or via webUI/CLI like every other network device I've admin'd in decades of IT. It's really helpful and improved my experience greatly.

Which SOHO devices suggested support a wired backhaul as that is the key feature I'm looking for?
