I have it connected to the WiFi but whenever I go to connect to the extender it asks for password, and it won't accept the password for my WiFi so don't know what to put.

If you changed your main router then you should reset RE220 to its factory defaults (press reset button for about 10 seconds) and re-configure from scratch.
If this was helpful click on the arrow pointing upward to make it blue.
