Mixing Mesh & Access Point
Hello,
I'm dealing with a WiFi setup challenge in my two-story house. I wanted to achieve seamless WiFi coverage without connection drops (roaming), and after discovering TP-Link's mesh technology, I thought I had found the perfect solution.
My Current Setup:
- Main ISP router (existing)
- TP-Link Archer AX53 (connected to ISP router)
- TP-Link RE700X repeater Both TP-Link devices are mesh-compatible and support WiFi 6, which seemed perfect on paper.
The Issue: While everything works fine with the main router, I'm running into problems with the RE700X. I specifically want to use it in Access Point mode (connected via Ethernet), but I can't get it to join the mesh network in this mode. It only works in repeater mode, which isn't what I want
My Questions:
- Did I got the wrong equipment for my needs?
- What would have been the optimal setup for my situation? (Considering I have a small house and only need two WiFi access points)
