Model: M7200
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 3.0.8 Build 231007 Rel.2n

The ones proposed on this forum did not work for my Volvo XC60 II (2021, mild hybrid). Yesterday I bought a TP-Link M7200 V3.0 router in Poland, in the official Media Markt sales network. The router has the latest software 3.0.8 Build 231007 Rel.2n, which blocks the installation of other software versions. Following Volvo's recommendations, I also turned off WPS. I have enabled the WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK AES security type. I don't have the option to choose only WPA2 AES. I can only choose auto and unsecured mode. The car's system recognizes the security set in this way (AES) in the TP-Link device as WPA TKIP and does not allow connection to the network.

None of the advice from this forum has helped so far, I have the current software and the system does not allow me to install anything else, the iPhone 14 pro and the Finevu GX1000cld dashcam connect without any problems with M7200. The Volvo modem works properly - it connects to the Internet after inserting the SIM card or via a hotspot shared by the smartphone. I don't want to use the built-in Volvo modem as an internet source, because there is no power backup and when the car is locked, the Internet is turned off. And I want to have the Internet available to the car's system to use its full features automatically without having to share the hotspot from the smartphone every time. 24/7 access to the network is necessary for the operation of other devices additionally installed in the car, so the car cannot be a hotspot. Can you do anything about it?

Update failed by firmware 3.0.8 build 231007 Rel. 2n, M7200 V3.0

Hi @Sunshine, thank you for your support. I also wrote an e-mail to technical support, but the only advice I received was to use old solutions on this forum, which is impossible due to blocking by the current software uploading the old version recommended here...
Of course, if I receive effective advice, I will share it here. For now, I'm waiting for a response from the support service.

Regards

Edit1:

At this moment, the technical support engineer recommended installing the beta version of software no. 220812 known here. And this is technically impossible when version 3.0.8 Build 231007 Rel.2n is installed, as I always mention... also the device for return...

The most interesting thing is that the software version 3.0.8 Build 231007 Rel.2n on the M7200 support website is only available for the Philippines and United Arab Emirates regions, and I received a router with this software in Poland...

Edit2:

Only on November 7, 2024, TP-Link placed firmware 3.0.8 Build 231007 rel 2n (with a note "_user") on the Polish support website for the M7200 dated 19/08/2024 laugh

static address to the installer M7200(EU)_V3_3.0.8 Build 231007 Rel. 2n_User (does not verify the region)

Edit3:

Today, November 11, 2024, I received information from the engineer, that they need to create a new beta version with bug fixes... it has happened before and no one has drawn any conclusions...

SOLUTION:

Edit4 [November 19, 2024]:

Today I received a beta version of the software from the TP-Link headquarters, which is supposed to solve the problem with the lack of stand-alone AES.
Firmware 3.0.9 Build 241111 Rel.3n_User_beta was successfully installed on the M7200 v3.0 router with the original firmware 3.0.8 Build 231007 Rel.2n.
From 3:00 p.m. when I updated until 6:00 p.m. everything is working properly, the car's modem connected to the WiFi network of the M7200 router.
The beta version added an option to select WPA2 PSK AES encryption in the WiFi security menu. It's a pity that such a failure occurred when creating software version 3.0.8 when an identical problem occurred in 2021. and a beta version was already created to patch this error in the then 3.0.5 software... It does not build my trust in the brand and the belief that TP-Link products are of high quality...

Edit5 [November 20, 2024]:
One day has passed and so far everything is working without any other errors.

 @TP-Link

Really @TP-Link has no solution for this? Nobody will help? A product has been released with faulty software and the customer is the one to worry about...
