Model: Deco X60
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 1.3

Hi There,

I've had some success with my Deco network (X60 master with 2x M9plus), but to improve reliability to a room that only receives a weak signal I decided to buy a couple of P9's so that this room would benefit from a "wired" connection using the power cabling as the signal route rather than radio.

Unfortunately the P9's won't connect with the powerline connection.... After reading up on this I saw in a forum that the P9 has to be the master for powerline technology to work.

Is this the case? and if so, how much does the rest of my network suffer from not having the X60 as a master just so i have decent coverage in 1 room?

Although this is a home system, we have 30+ connections and before we had the X60, the M9's were struggling on their own and we had various outages that resulted in the remote M9 becoming very hot with red LED. We don't live in a big house (1,750sq ft) over ground and 1st floor), but the walls must be thick!

Ideally you can tell me how to / or update the firmware so that the P9's can use the powerline connection when in slave mode. It is also really useful that the M9plus units can be told their connection preference. Is that possible with the P9?

regards,

Russ

For your network, Deco PX50 would be better choice than P9.

@Alexandre. I would rather not go out and spend more money. I already own the X60 and 2x P9's, as well as 2x M9 plus on this network. I'm just trying to work out the best way to setup what I have.

thanks

Hi, thanks for posting question here.

For Deco P9, there is no LED light on the power adapter of Deco P9 to indicate the PLC connection status. However, you can click on the network map on the Deco app, then click on a satellite Deco P9 to check which deco it connects to and whether through the PLC backhaul or not. So please ensure the signal source of one P9 is from another P9. But it is a pity that Deco P9 does not support to select a preferred signal sourc.

And the powerline backhaul is greatly influenced by your powerline environment, so it is hard to 100% make sure the powerline backhaul will work between your two Deco P9s.

You may refer to Q6 in the guide to troubleshoot and adjust the locations of your 2 P9s for a try.
