When I plug in my adapter, no matter which USB port I plug it into, it won't turn on. I have rebooted my PC numerous times, uninstalled and installed the driver 2 times and still can't get it to turn on. The adapter itself doesn't seem to be the problem, I plugged it into my sister's laptop and the light that indicates the adapter is on does work, it just doesn't when I plug it into mine. Also, when I plug it in, my PC does seem to recognise the device, as the device driver appears in Device Manager.

 

Until a few hours ago, the adapter was working normally, then it turned off, interrupting the internet connection, and it didn't turn back on.

 

 

 

My OS is Windows 10 Pro.

Hi, welcome to our community.

Here are several steps for your reference. It seems that you have tried step1&2 already.

Step 1: Go to Computer Management>Device Manager>Action>Scan for hardware changes, and check if it shows up in Network Adapters/Other Devices/Universal Serial Bus controllers.

Step 2: Plug the adapter into another USB port and do step 1 again, or install the adapter on another computer to see if it can be detected.
Step 3: Right-click on My Computer>Properties>Hardware>Device Manager and double-click on "Universal Serial Bus Controller" to go to several "USB Root Hubs" and double-click on any one to open the Properties dialog and switch to the "Power Management" tab. Remove the checkbox before "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power". Click OK to return, and restart the computer.

  @Marvin_S Hi, thanks for your reply. I followed the steps you mentioned but the problem persists. I'm attaching a picture of what the Network Adapters device looks like, it's the only one that has signs that something seems to be wrong, anyway those signs have been there for a while and never interfered with the connection to WiFi or Bluetooth devices.
