Model: Archer AX80
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.1 Build 20241027

Trying to setup Archer Ax80 to replace my old Archer 1600.

I am met with a No Internet Connection message with orange light on Internet of AX80.

I don't believe the hardware connection is the issue as I've reseated the exact same cable into the old router and it works with no issues.

I've attempted to copy the Internet settings from the old router to the new which says it was successful with no luck.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Some ISPs are using MAC address protection and you should use MAC clone feature to be able to connect to the Internet - details.

Sometimes when your Internet connection type is PPPoE you may have mistaken its username or password.

Hi, welcome to our community.

May I confirm your old TP-Link device is Archer VR1600v?

Archer AX80 is a wireless router while Archer VR1600v is a DSL modem router, so they are different types of network devices.

And who is your ISP and what is your exact network topology?

You may refer to this troubleshooting guide: What should I do if I cannot access the internet through Wi-Fi router?

It is also suggested to contact local technical hotline for direct help.

As @Marvin_S pointed Archer AX80 is not a direct replacement for VR1600v, unless you're using VR1600v in wireless router mode (using its WAN port instead of DSL port). If that's the case my previous post remarks are still valid.

I feel I am using it in Wireless router mode but could be mistaken. I am NOT using the DSL port on the old router/modem and connecting via the WAN port to the NBN modem. Do you recommend a modem/router to utilize the Ultrafast option provided by ISP? ISP suggests TP Link Deco X60 and TP Link VX420-G2V

Hi, sorry to reply to you late.

You may refer to the Q2 in the guide, which lists your network topology.

So Archer AX80 should be ok to replace your original Archer VR1600v. Maybe the configuration parameters you put in need to be reconfirmed with your ISP. For example, if the internet connection type is PPPoE, the username must be something like an email address. And you may follow the steps in this guide.

As I know, VX420-G2V is also a customized model by some ISPs, like Archer VR1600v, while Deco X60 belongs to Deco mesh series.
