It seams impossible to set my range extender. I followed steps from the web site and found that when set to repeater mode the network can't be found. The only time the internet provider is detected is when device is set to access point mode. However then the network appears as limited. Could someone help to resolve the problem please?

should have posted the steps, did you follow this one http://www.tp-link.com/en/article/?faqid=357
too, you did not post Ver. if its white its Ver1 if its navy blue Ver2 post it to get the right help
and updated to latest FW, even if you have latest installed from factory update again. here is how http://www.tp-link.com/en/article/?faqid=296
