5GHz AES Archer C7 problem

Region : UnitedKingdom

Model : Archer C7

Hardware Version : Not Clear

Firmware Version : 130729

ISP :

A number of wireless devices don't seem to work with this router with 5GHz when WPA AES is enabled. A MacBook late 2008, a MacBook Pro mid 2010 and a second gen iPad sometimes have trouble connecting to the network on the 5GHz and when they do the Internet only works for about a minute. The problem is solved by using TKIP though its a lot slower than unencrypted 5GHz or WPA2 AES 2.4GHz. A Samsung Galaxy S2, S3 and third gen iPad don't seem to have any problem on the 5GHz with AES enabled.

How come? AES is obviously the most popular encryption type. How come Samsung and iPAD have trouble with AES....
Have you tried the WEP encrytpion as well?

Well they only have a problem with this router with AES on 5GHz. Fine with other routers on 5GHz AES and fine with the Archer C7 on 2.4GHz. I haven't tried WEP yet but theres no reason to think that it won't work. I'm guessing there are some compatibility issues with this router and 5GHz.

Problem confirmed using Macbook Pro Medio 2010
2013-10-08 01:38:15
I got the exact same setup and the same problem. My Macbook Pro (medio 2010) only has internet connection in some time and then losses the connection (only internet, not the wifi itself). Any other device (apple TV, iPad mini, iPhone, Andriod phone and Synology NAS) keeps internet connection just fine.

Both the Acher C7 and the MBP runs with the newest released software (Archer firmware no. 3.13.33 Build 130729 Rel.56122n) and the MBP has the AirPort Extreme (0x14E4, 0x8D), running firmware (Broadcom BCM43xx 1.0 (5.106.98.100.17).

Might TP-link has a solution to this in a upcoming firmware release?

Macbook Pro doesn't work with 5Ghz AES
2013-11-15 14:01:37
Exactly the same problem. The issue is weird because my ubuntu laptop and nexus 4 work absolutely OK with 5Ghz AES.
If I turn off AES, 5Ghz is becoming usable for macbook. I like the router, and I don't want to return it. But does anybody know how to overcome this problem?
TP-Link Support where are you?

Pls start a support ticket with this issue. I did so and then TPLink support staff noticed the forum posts. They dont seem to moderate the forum at all. So dont expect help from them here. If more ppl make support tickets they might actually look into it.

I already have the latest EFI and SMC, also this won't help iPads. I think its definitely a router issue.

AES not working with MBP and Archer AC7
2014-01-18 13:23:24
I have exactly the same problem (or almost). The MBP connect on 5Gz and I can access local network but not Internet. The Archer is connected via another router with cable modem.
It seems like no problem for all other devices but for MBP.
Did you found any solution ?
Regards
