I have been using TL-WN722N Wirelesss Adapter for quite some time on my desktop to connect to my AP. As per my understanding, the external Antenna of the adapter is 4 dbi so Out of Curiosity and experiment i tried to use an even more power Antenna of 8dbi (TL-ANT2408CL). I successfully connected to the AP with it as well. But My observation was 4 dbi Antenna also popped 4 AP'S around me and even my New External Antenna (8 dbi) also popped up 4 AP's around me. I am sure there are atleast 10 to 15 APs in my 200m to 250m radius. I mean wasn't 8 dbi should pop up more AP's. Someone please help me understand this.

I didn't proceeded with it actually, but the main issue is to know how much distance coverage in meters an external 8 dbi or 16 dbi Antenna gives. Apart from -87 dbm signal strength, also find out at what distance the desired ssid is at. It will help you trouble shoot the problem. Good Luck
