I have unpacked my new set of three X50s and they all have a tightly fitted plastic sleeve on them. There are no instructions about these - are they ment to be left in place or are they protective sleeves for transit and should be removed ?

That should be protective film used for keeping away from dust and wetness. You may remove it or not. It may help dissipate heat for the Deco if removed.
