Region : Poland
Firmware Version: 3.13.33 Build 130729 Rel.56122n
Hardware Version: Archer C7 v1 00000000
ISP : irrelevant

Issue confirmed: I have the same SSID for 2.4 and 5 Gigs radios and even though my devices are set to prefer the 5GHz band and are just few meters from the router they have networking issues whilst connected to it and they drop down to 2.4GHz network. The 5GHz driver is highly unstable.
Additional info: I have a WDR4300 and with same setup my devices work flawlessly.

EDIT: stuff seems to work right when 5GHz is set to 802.11n, enabling 802.11ac screws things up.

I wrote the support - they gave me a link to Archer_C7v1_140117.BETA.zip I asked them if there is a changelog or some release notes.

Unfortunately they said they did NOT know which problems were fixed with the beta neither if the problem will ever fixed...

I will test the linked beta at the weekend.

Best regards

Firmware 3.13.34 Build 140127 Rel.64714n fixed the issue for me, my Samsung Galaxy is pretty stable on 5GHz now.

Just upgraded frimware to 3.13.34 Build 140127 Rel.64714n (Beta) and very initial indications seem better. Signal strength on 5G band drops from excellent to fair after moving about 25 - 30 away from the router with a few walls in between but seems to hold. Nexus 5 with AC adapter maintains link speeds at 292 Mbps at this distance which before would drop way off to less than 10 Mbps. Laptop with dual band N adapter drop from 300 Mbps to 108 Mbps, same as before but again, seems more stable. I will update this thread if the 5G problems reoccur.

Hi Dominick, what's the OSX version are you using? Have you updated the OSX and SMC and EFI? Is the mid-2012 MacBook Pro with retina display? Thanks!

Hi, I'm currently using OSX Mavericks. No, the mid-2012 MacBook Pro is not the one with retina display.

I haven't touched the SMC or EFI...

Reverted from ArcherC7v1_en_3_13_34_up_boot(140127).bin to latest stable build as that beta has locked comms with my printer...

was BIG BIG waste of money this router... my old 1043ND is much better in every single way! ... Im sitting now in front of the Router and i got 50% of the signal in 2.4ghz or 5ghz! if i walk into the room drops to 22%~30% ... when the old 1043ND used to be 80~90%.

C7 and 2013 MacBook Air
2014-02-13 00:34:30
Hi everyone,

I've been struggling with WiFi problems between my 2013 MacBook Air and TP-Link Archer C7 for some time now. MacBook's WiFi was a problem from the very beginning - it didn't auto connect after sleep. It happened with Sagem F@st 3764 as well as with brand new Archer. Then another problems showed up. Speed drops, 5GHz band disappearing and so on. However it seems I found a working solution for these annoying problems.

On Archer C7:
1. Upgraded router firmware to 140127 beta.
2. Switched all other devices to 2.4GHz, so that the MacBook is alone on 5GHz band.

On my MacBook:
3. Bluetooth is always turned on as I use magic mouse and wireless keyboard.
4. Turned off wake on LAN.
5. I'm running 10.9.2 beta at the moment.

As it's working without any problems for some time, I don't want to risk finding the exact problem cause etc. All these steps combined seem to resolve my issues. I hope it will help some of you.

Cheers
Paweł
