I have a USB hub UH700. I have noticed that if I happen to catch the metal part of the usb plug that goes from the hub to the computer I get a quick shock from it. I grabbed hold of it ready to put into computer when I got a quick zap. It's the original cable and the hub is powered with the original adapter.

Is this normal with a powered hub??

Not sure if I want to plug the usb lead into my computer if it's not supposed to.

Cheers

Hi, welcome to our community.

We are wondering whether it is related to electrostatic effect. So may I confirm some information to know about your situation better?

1. If you hold the metal part of the usb cable whose another end is connected to the hub UH700,  did the electroshock happen suddenly& instantaneously, or persistently?

2. Did you get quick shock if you touch the metal part of usb port on your computer without connecting to UH700?

3. Without connecting UH700, keep one end of the usb cable connected to your computer, hold the metal part of another end of the usb cable, please check whether the electroshock happens.

Thanks for your cooperation and best regards.
