Whenever I plug in the device it is being recognized as an "Unknown Device" with a yellow explanation mark and when I try to find the device drivers automatically I get the error that it couldnt find the file specified, this also occurs when I try to manually install the drivers with the "Have Disk" option.

I get the following error code:

The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

The system cannot find the file specified.

I am using Windows 8.1 Pro with Kaspersky installed

I’m so sorry for you,Mine adapter is OK on win8.1 .What your main board, maybe i can help you~
do you use TP-LINK win8 driver,they have not provided win8.1 driver.

do you use TP-LINK win8 driver,they have not provided win8.1 driver.

win 8.1 64 bit

mainboard is Gigabyte Z87X-OC

yes I attempt to use the win 8 driver
