What isn't fine is that this print server will stop at nothing to create endless print jobs telling you what you already know.

The network is unstable.

The print server cannot receive any printing data.

Please check your network connection and the environment.

How do I stop this error??

We have these attached to various Tally/Gencom T2830/2265 printers - periodically we get reams of paper out telling us the "network is unstable" ... this happens when people VPN in and when there is no one VPN'd in

Can't find any answers - can anyone advise.

The software prints direct to the printer via a ScoUnix 5.5 Remote Q setup using rlpconf

There seems to be very little out there for the parallel version of the print server we have

For Windows XP:
1. Click on start menu and goes to printers and faxes
2. Open Properties on the printer you want to share by print server:
3. Select Port tab, choose the port your printer uses and click Configure Port:
4. On the new Window, Please tick ‘LPR Byte Counting Enable’:
For Windows 7/Vista:
1. Click Start-> Control Panel -> Classic View -> Printers.
2. Find your installed printer icon, right-click, select Properties
3. Select Port tab, and choose/highlight the port your printer uses and click Configure Port
4. Please check ‘LPR Byte Counting Enabled’

Thanks for the reply - however you have given details of changing print settings in Windows based machines - these printers are not setup on the local machines in any way shape or form

As I stated in the original post The software prints direct to the printer via a ScoUnix 5.5 Remote Q setup using rlpconf

Not familiar with what you said... My suggestions are for those who use Windows PC and encounter a similar problem...
