Advice Please

My current ADSL Router does not allow me to modify the DNS settings (BT Homehub3)
I would like to setup OpenDNS, to add more security to all the wireless devices used by my children on my home network (tablets, phones, etc)
I am considering purchasing a TL-WR843ND, please can you let me know if this is a valid configuration:
Switch off DHCP on my current ADSL router
Connect the TP-Link to my ADSL router with a RJ45 cable (using the INTERNET port?)
Configure DHCP on the TP-Link so it assigns the IP Address of my current router (not the TP-Link), I assume this would be Default Gateway 10.168.1.254 and DNS addresses of OPENDNS. Wireless devices connecting via my current router would have to be provided IP Addresses from the TP-Link.
Then enable wireless on the TP-Link to enable better coverage around the house. (My current ADSL router is upstairs, I am planning to put the TP-Link downstairs)
Also, I was planning to put the TP-Link in a cupboard so I like the idea of buying a Antenna extension cable and have one of the aerials located outside the cupboard.
Hope this makes sense, Many Thanks, Lee
