Region : Russia
Model : TL-WR740N
Hardware Version : V4
Firmware Version :
ISP :
NOTE: I had an earlier thread about my installation issues, but I have decided to start from scratch.
- ran EasySetupAssistant.Exe from CD
-- "Check Router's Connectivity"
--- Network adapter enabled -> check
--- Network status check completed -> check
-- "Select Connection Type"
--- radio button @ PPPoE
-- "Set PPPoE Parameters"
--- radio button @ Static IP
--- User Name, Password, IP Address & Subnet Mask as per internet provider
-- "Secure Your Wireles Network"
--- radio button: "Most Security"
--- WPA2-PSK -> as randomly generated
-- "Configure the Router"
--- Successfully configured router -> check
--- "No Internet Connection Detected"
NOW WHAT?
Also, after doing this, the internet would not work, and I was forced to reboot and then reconfigure the Local Area Connection, for which I have to enter all the internet provider data - i.e., IP address, submask, default gateway, DNS server, login, password, etc. I find this to be big pain, and would like to not have to do this (although obviously once I get the wireless router working properly, this will no longer be an issue.)

Why can not I access the Internet after connecting the TP-LINK router to my modem

How do I install TP-LINK wireless router to work with DSL Modem (PPPoE)
http://www.tp-link.com/en/article/?faqid=86
The tutorial instructs me to do something with the modem. There is no modem; the internet comes in directly via the ethernet cable.
AS PER THE DIRECTIVE GIVEN BY FAQ 138, METHOD 2:
- ran EasySetupAssistant.Exe from CD
-- "Check Router's Connectivity"
--- Network adapter enabled -> check
--- Network status check completed -> check
-- "Select Connection Type"
--- radio button @ Dynamic IP
--- User Name, Password, IP Address & Subnet Mask as per internet provider
-- "Secure Your Wireles Network"
--- radio button: "Most Security"
--- WPA2-PSK -> as randomly generated
-- "Configure the Router"
--- "No Internet Connection Detected"
- entered 192.168.1.1 and then 192.0.1 into browser and got webpage not available both times
ALL THE DIRECTIVES IN THE WEBPAGES REQUIRE THIS LAST STEP, SO I CANNOT CONTINUE WITH THIS.

This is the second time Jimasek has asked for a screen shot and you haven't provide it, we need answers from you too.
Swampwiz if you have a LAN cable not a modem, factory default the 740 http://www.tp-link.com/en/article/?faqid=83 and connect LAN cable to WAN port the blue one, and survey on your computer a SSID Tp-LinkXXXXX connect and check if you can surf internet.
No internet here.
No luck change ip to your 740 http://www.tp-link.com/en/article/?faqid=67 to 192.168.5.1 and do the same
For all 3 ip addresses that I am instructed to go to, I get "The webpage is not available", so I did not continue from here.
Still no luck set 740 as AP http://www.tp-link.com/en/article/?faqid=417 before in your computer connected to internet check in wire adapter what sub-net you are getting from ISP cause that sub-net is the one you gonna use, the third segment of the ip is the sub-net example 192.168.5.1 the number 5 is the sub-net
in this case you do not use WAN port you are going to connect your lan cable to any of the YELLOW ethernet ports.

I think I understand why this is "chaotic". To use the internet via the ethernet cable, I must have the IP address of my computer set to that as directed by my internet provider. It seems that from this latest weblink, I must reconfigure my computer's IP address. I suppose that every time I try to get the wireless router working, I will nee to do this but then after I fail to do this, I will need to reset my computer's IP address to be able to use the internet. As you might imagine, this is real pain, and I'd really like to not have to do this. Can you offer a suggestion for me?
I will go an do as you have instructed and report back.
