TL-WR841N firewall confusion
Region : Argentina
Model : TL-WR1043ND
Hardware Version : V2
Firmware Version :
ISP :
I just bought a second hand TL-WR841N from a colleague at work as I've just moved to Plusnet Fibre, from BE/Sky ADSL2. I am completely baffled by the firewall rules/Port forwarding.
For example, I have custom ports SSH ports for various devices on my home LAN and I hoped to use my : from outside my network, to SSH to any specific machine behind the router. (Similarly with other protocols). I've tried out the forwarding menu item but no luck. I successfully SSHd to this PC from a laptop on the same subnet but when I tried to do the same, using my WAN static IP and the same port that was specified in my forwarding rule, it failed. I thought perhaps the firewall was too restrictive but I'm unused to the way TP-Link deal with it (previous Router was a Netgear DGN1000) and my naive experiments caused loss of Internet access completely (now reversed :o)
I'm sure it's all possible but I'd really appreciate one fully worked example of say SSH? Also a link to a good reference for the firewall, please?
Many thanks, in advance,
Noh
