Hi,

I recently installed the Archer C7. It seems to work fine except for the Guest network.

When I enable the Guest network (2.4GHz; no security) and try to connect to it with a mobile phone, I do not get an IP address (and thus no connection).

Anyone who has an idea what I'm doing wrong?

Give us screenshot from Guest Network tab. Can you see new SSID for guest?

Yes, is attached.


Can you see new SSID for guest?

Yes, with an app on my phone and tablet I can see the SSID in the list of WiFi networks.
When I select it to connect and use it, the phone and tablet keep saying "trying to connect...", "retrieve IP address...".
And that's it.

I hope you can help me further with this info.

Main SSID is everything OK? You can connect to the wireless network?

Yes, that is possible, no problem.


Some new info: I have ticked (enabled) the "Allow Guest To Access My Local Network" option (in the top of the screen).
Now I can connect to the GUEST network and use the internet, but also I can connect to other nodes in my network, e.g. NAS.
That works exactly as the option says, but it should work without the option, without the access to my local network.

Any new ideas?

This is the bug in firmware I checked it on my Archer C7v1 with Android and I have this same effect. Phone doesn't connect with guest network on 2,4GHz. I can't check it on 5GHz band because my phone doesn't have this radio band. You have to report it here - http://ticket.tp-link.com/index.php?/Tickets/Submit

Has this issue been resolved?
Is there a ticket number?

I am not able to connect to the guest 2.4GHz SID.
I am able to connect to the primary 2.4GHz SID.
I am also able to connect to the primary and guest 5GHz SID.
I am sitting 6 feet from the wireless router.

Have you tried the latest firmware-beta version to see if this issue is still there or if it is fixed?
Because it's a annoying issue since it was known since 2014.

I saw and used my guest 2.4GHz SID yesterday! It is gone again today :^(
Access Time: Schedule (can be connected): Everyday

It appears that I have the latest firmware:
Firmware Version: 3.14.3 Build 150508 Rel.42275n
Hardware Version: Archer C7 v3 00000000

beta version? Hmmmmm.
The current firmware download version is Archer_C7_V3_150508_US.zip/ArcherC7v3_en_3_14_3_up_boot(150508).bin
Where can I download a beta version of the firmware?

Sorry but this is only for v2.

You may ask the tp-link live supporters if there is same beta even for v3.
