Hi,

I have a large 9 bedroom student house, with 9 people living in the house. We have one modem router in the downstairs lounge - a Plusnet Technicolor TG582n - and a TP-Link TL WDR3600 upstairs connected via an ethernet cable. This is so the WiFi reaches upstairs in the house.

The downstairs router is being used as a modem, as in it connected to the phoneline. I have an ethernet cable from the back of this router connected to a LAN port in the router in the upstairs hallway.

On the TP-LINK router I have set the IP address to be 192.168.1.1 (the Technicolor IP is 192.168.1.254 and the DCHP range is 192.168.1.100-253). This connection seems to work, however the internet is VERY slow when connecting through the TP-LINK router (the second router), even via ethernet.

Am I doing something wrong?

Many thanks,
Joe

Modem is plugged in LAN port or WAN port of TL-WDR3600? If WAN port, you should change router's IP to 192.168.2.1 to avoid IP conflict.
If LAN port, your TP-LINK is working as an AP? DHCP is disabled? Maybe try firmware upgrade.
