TP AC750 Router issues

TP AC750 Router issues

Model : TL-WDR4300
Hardware Version : V1
Firmware Version : Original , didn't update.
ISP : Starhub Cable
I just got a AC450 router but found out -
1. Unable to connect to internet though I connected to the wifi for both bands
2. Signal for 5GHz is very weak when slightly away from the router (for example - next room). It can drop to 10-20mbs and sometimes I can't locate the signal. I am using http://www.speedtest.com.sg/ to test the speed.
3. The speed for 2.4Ghz also not satisfactorily. I used to get 40-50bms for my starhub cable 100 mbs broadband usng my old N router (also from Tp-Link) but this dropped to 10+mbs.I also used http://www.speedtest.com.sg/ to test.
Any good solutions before I throw this router away and opt for Asus?
