No matter what I try, I cannot get access control to work. I am trying to block access to facebook from the Office PC between 11am and 4pm, Monday-Friday. (currently testing as 24hours)

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Address Type: IP Address
LAN IP Address: 192.168.0.101 -

Target Description: Facebook Block
Target Type: Domain
Domain Name: facebook.com




Schedule Description:
Day: Everyday Select Days

Time: all day-24 hours:
Start Time: 1100
Stop Time: 1600

Status: enabled

Update:

It would appear that the block worked but ONLY on notifications and image uploads. Browsing, commenting, writing, messaging and viewing all remained fine.

Https websites such as facebook cannot be blocked by the router...

I never knew that.

But I'm not sure if I agree. I run facebook as https, the block I put in place yesterday actually did block facebook, but not if it was already an active session.

Simply put, Facebook's traffic is encrypted therefore it is difficult to block.

One way to archive this goal is to block IP address of facebook with port 443.

Open cmd from start menu. Run nslookup www.facebook.com, it will show all the IP address of facebook.

Then login the router to set rule:

Host Description: Office PC
Address Type: IP Address
LAN IP Address: 192.168.0.101 -

Target Description: Facebook Block
Target Type: IP address+port
IP address: the IP address you get from cmd
port: 443


You need set up several rules to block all the IP addresses
