AP: issue with IP assignment
AP: issue with IP assignment

Region : Argentina

Model : TL-WA901ND

Hardware Version : V3

Firmware Version :

ISP :

I'm using one WA901ND as AP and three more as repeaters. IPs are assigned by my pfSense DHCP server.

There is an issue with one of the AP, which seems to be assigning itself IP to the clients (range 169.........) although it has DHCP disabled, static IP and -as far as I can see- is correctly connected to the root AP. I mean: clients connect to the correct wireless network through this AP, but they get IPs completely different from those assigned by the router DHCP server.

The other repeaters, with same settings, are working fine.

ISP_Modem --> pfSense (router/DHCP server enabled) --> TL-WA901ND as AP --> TL-WA901ND as Repeaters x3

Config of troubled TL-WA901ND AP:

-Wireless settings: Universal Repeater (connected to root AP)
-Wireless security: WPA/WPA2 - Personal
-Network/LAN: Static IP
-DHCP settings: Disabled

Thanks for any help!

169.254...? It is an invalid IP address.
Did you try to assign a static IP on one of clients connected to that AP?
What's the firmware version of it? Is it up to date?
All WA901NDs have different IPs in the same subnet as your router, right?

Thanks for your response Diamond.

I filled the firmware field on first post, I don't know why it didn't show up: it's 3.14.8 Build 130828 Rel. 63678n.

169.254... is actually the IP range that clients get from that AP. I've tried assigning a valid (on my subnet) static IP on different clients of that AP and still not working.

Finally, every AP have different IPs on the subnet.
Let's say:
Gateway: 192.168.100.1
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Root AP: 192.168.100.2
Repeaters: 192.168.100.3, 192.168.100.4, 192.168.100.5

Upgrade the latest firmware for the WA901, reset and reconfigure it.

If the problem continues, try to replace it under warranty.
