Wrong USB storage parameters...

Hi Guys,

On my Archer C7 v2 (and probably with all the TP-Link routers), it's impossible to define the Host Name and the Group Name for the USB storages.

These values are "hardcoded", I mean the defaults " " and "Workgroup" can't be changed.

Consequently, Windows 7 doesn't display easily my USB storage (Router-2) as it does with my Netgear R7000 (Router-1).

Who has the same problem?

It exists a Host Name parameter but only for the WAN port set in Dynamic IP !

A ticket is open for this issue, R&D seems working on it...

Hope they will improve the firmware to the same level of my Netgear...

You can display your router connected USB as a network drive on win7 computer by following these steps:
1.Go to Start
2.Type "run" in the search box
3.Open the run application
4.Input "\\tplinklogin.net" in the dialog box
5.Click OK

It's maybe related to the network setting of your computer. Something about
NetBIOS over TCP/IP, and
enable File and Printer Sharing
Perhaps wise to give it a check.

All my compters in the network also has different wrok group IDs other than "workgroup" on the router. I have a WDR4300. I use the USB as a network drive it shows under the "Computers" as a disk. Fine tune the setting on router and computers is very difficult. I hope you succeed eventually. Sorry can't help too much.

I appreciate your help Soma but I think that TP-Link has to modify their firmware.

Another proof is coming from the tool named Fing on my Android tablet.
It displays a lot of information coming from my Netgear R7000 (NetBIOS Domain, Name, etc) and nothing from my Archer C7...

Hi..

Exactly the problem I'm facing. So I guess we'll wait for the firmware upgrade?

Hello Farata,

My ticket is still open, and I have no news.
Hope the silence from the technical support engineer means the issue is clearly understood and R&D is working on.
