Hi @Michael007
It sounds like you're experiencing an issue where certain apps only work after toggling your Wi-Fi off and on. This can be caused by several factors. Here are some troubleshooting steps to try:
Possible Causes & Fixes:
1. DNS or Network Cache Issue
- Toggling Wi-Fi may reset the DNS cache or network connection, fixing temporary glitches.
- Fix: Try clearing the DNS cache or resetting network settings.
- Android: Go to Settings > System > Reset options > Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth.
- iOS: Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
2. App-Specific Network Restrictions
- Some apps may have strict network requirements or fail to reconnect properly.
- Fix:
- Force-stop the problematic app and clear its cache (Settings > Apps > [App Name] > Storage > Clear Cache).
- Check if the app has background data restrictions (Settings > Apps > [App Name] > Mobile data & Wi-Fi > Allow background data).
3. IPv6 Compatibility Problems
- Some apps struggle with IPv6 connections.
- Fix: Disable IPv6 in your router settings.
4. Corrupted Wi-Fi Configuration
- Your device might have a misconfigured Wi-Fi profile.
- Fix: Forget the Wi-Fi network and reconnect.
5. Firewall or Security Software
- Antivirus or firewall apps may block certain apps.
- Fix: Temporarily disable security apps to test.
6. Check for Software Updates
- Outdated OS or app versions can cause connectivity issues.
- Fix: Update your device and apps.
Other suggestions:
- Test if the issue persists on mobile data (if it works fine, the problem is likely Wi-Fi-related).
- Try another Wi-Fi network to see if the issue follows your device.
- Test if the issue happens on all of your wireless clients.
If none of these work, let me know your device model, OS version, and which apps are affected for more targeted help!

Hi @Michael007
You're welcome! Glad to hear disabling IPv6 resolved your issue.
Is IPv6 Necessary?
>>>It depends on your needs, but here’s a quick breakdown:
When IPv6 is Useful:
1. **Future-Proofing** – IPv6 is designed to replace IPv4 (which is running out of addresses).
2. **Large Networks** – Essential for ISPs or enterprises with many devices (avoids IPv4 address shortages).
3. **Performance** – Some networks (e.g., mobile carriers) optimize traffic over IPv6.
4. **Modern Services** – A few websites/CDNs (like Google, Facebook) may prioritize IPv6.
When IPv6 Isn’t Critical:
1. **Home Networks** – Most apps/services still work flawlessly over IPv4.
2. **Compatibility Issues** – Older devices/routers or misconfigured networks (like yours) may struggle with IPv6.
3. **No ISP Support** – If your ISP doesn’t fully deploy IPv6, keeping it enabled offers no benefit.
