HoiI bought an Archer C7 and a TP link swtich and TP link network card. All Gigabit.
When i see the speed of the data between for instance my PC and Nas the max speed is exactly 100mbps
On the switch a green led indicates that a gigabit device is connected.
My Nas has a green light but not the Archer C7.
A orange led indicates a max of 100mbps......
I replaced the cable between the Archer and the switch but only the same results.
The PC is connected directely to the Archer.
I use Windows 10.

What does Windows say what speed it is connected at?
Take the switch out of the config and tell me what speed Windows reports it is connected at.

Hoi

Thanx for the reply
The speed without the switch and the PC directly connected to the Archer is exact 100mbps max.
I have two devices conected to the switch with a green led. Tomorrow I wil check what the result when the switch is connected tot the PC with a short cable.
I read on other forums and google that the cause maybe lie in the kind of cable I use.
Thats a cheap one from the early 2000...
The result i will let you know

Go to Properties of network card on your PC and check Speed&Duplex. What's the Value there? Provide the screenshot.

Hoi

New cable makes no difference.
Set the speed and duplex on 1 gigabit also makes no difference.

Gigabit negotiaion problems
2015-09-30 14:18:00
I have the same problem. The Link from the Archer Router to the Switch does only negotiate the speed on 100 MBit/s. The Archer C7 v2 Router is on firmware 3.14.3 Build 150427 Rel.36706n. The device is connected on LAN port 1 to a Netgear GS105Ev2 Gigabit switch on port 1. Gigabit negotiation works on the Netgear switch with other devices (e.g. a PC, PS4 or a LANCom switch). I've also tried a few Gigabit capable cables. I guess the Archer C7 v2 has a Gigabit/1000M negotiation problem? Does 1000M negotiation uplink from the Archer C7v2 to a gigabit switch work for someone? If yes which switch hardware do you use?

hi,
Do you have more information on this subject ?
Last week, I have bought an Archer C7 and it seems that I have the same kind of issues

- my computer connected by cable to my box

i have this result with speedtest :
Dwn : 500 Mps
Upl : 300 Mps

network adapter detected as 1.0 Gbits/s

- my computer connected by cable to my router Archer C7 (configured as switch - DHCP disable)

i have this result with speedtest :
Dwn : 95 Mps
Upl : 95 Mps

network adapter detected as 1.0 Gbits/s

It seems that the reported problem is still remaining

for information
fw version : 3.15.1 Build 160616 Rel.44182n
Hw version : Archer C7 v2 00000000

I have a similar problem. Windows shows the connect at 1 Gbps, but I am getting 100 Mbps speeds. I also have a Debian box showing a 1000 Mbps connection. I did not look at the link light colors, so I will do that tonight!

I did move my Windows and Debian PCs to a TP-Link Gigabit switch that I bought back in 2013 and they both get 1 Gbps speeds, so I know its the router.

Have you tried to change the cable between the router and the front-end modem? I guess maybe it's caused that the router and the modem only negotiates a speed of 100Mbps.
If it still doesn't make a sense, please try to disable the Hardware NAT feature (not NAT) on the router. Just login the admin page of C7, refer to NAT menu, then tap to disable hardware NAT.

None of what you are suggesting makes any sense from a networking perspective. Both PCs were connected to the Gigabit LAN ports on the C7, not WAN. No NATing involved. I posted my own topic about my issue which has more detail. This was more of a me too posting except my PCs are showing 1 Gbps connections.
