Firmware Version:

I am trying to give a static IP to my range extender as I do with all my home devices (access points, cameras, etc).

When I select static IP and DHCP OFF (my router has DHCP Enabled) my devices, smartphones, laptops, etc, simply won't connect to the range extender's WiFi. They cannot get a valid IP address or if they get they can only ping local devices and not connect to the internet.

If on the other hand during the setup of the range extender I select Smart IP (DHCP) everything works like a charm. I am not getting it, it's not the first device I got to set up. Is there something wrong or a limitation from the device?

One way to mitigate this is to use an address reservation on your main router and reserve an IP address for the WR841 MAC address.

Thus leaving the WR841 on Smart IP(DHCP) it will receive the reserved IP address from your main router - as if it's set with a Sattic IP.

Another approach would be to split your DHCP pool between your main router and the WR841 and set a Static IP on WR841 with its DHCP enabled.
