hi

i just install deco network consist of:

1x  DecoX10 (hw v.1 / fr v.1.2.1) as pppoe modem (main unit)

4x DecoX10 (hw v.1 / fr v.1.2.1) as access point

3x DecoM5 (hw v.3.2 / fr v.1.8.5 as access point

 

all connected to unmanage gigabit switch using Cat 6 

ISP is using fiber and gigabit ethernet to main deco (400mbps speed on monthly plan)

 

Users consist of:

20+ cellphone

4 laptop

5 ip camera

8 smart tv

 

The Main deco is VERY SLOW respond!

 

1.  ping to main deco from a laptop connected to the switch using cable get drop 5-7 times every 10-15 success ping...

 

2.  Apps viewing the internet speed connection performace is VERY LAGGING!

on real download test for 140mbps for 2 minutes... not even shown on the apps

 

3. roaming (fast roaming on) from decox10 to m5 is not smooth. Devices keep attach to x10 even when m5 is closer.

 

4. sometimes overall speed drop down very significant.

 

5. No QOS being use, and yet the apps viewing is very lag ...

according to reddit users...

everything comes down to "loop connection" that trigger STP, hence halt/disable the port,

the culprit cause by the deco system doing some "wireless mesh connection" between deco unit, even all the unit is on ethernet backhaul.

  

I think TP-link must implement option to use WIRE ONLY backhaul to prevent the loop problem
