Deco BE65 Pro IPv6 weirdness
Deco BE65 Pro IPv6 weirdness

I've just setup my new deco mesh routers for IPv6 and noticed a couple of weird things, but mostly not fatal.
Firstly when I set the WAN port to DHCPv6, it wouldn't show the WAN IP or DNS server IPs in the app.
I manually set the DNS servers to LAN IPs and they showed, but not the WAN IPv6 IP.
It wasn't till I tried stateless for "Get IPv6 Address" that the WAN IP and DNS server IPs would show in the app.
The other thing, but I'm not sure what the problem was is that when the router was set to DCHPv6 on the WAN I was getting 20-50% packet loss at times, IPv4 was unaffected, but that went away when I switched to stateless for the WAN and I also reset my connection with the ISP via their portal. So I'm not sure what actually fixed things as I did multiple things at the same time to fix it.

The model on the bottom of the Deco is Deco BE65 Pro(US) Ver: 1.0
There is 1 very annoying thing whenever I make changes to the IPv6 internet connection, it deletes/removes all the firewall entries I've made, and it just did it then when I switched DNS from manual to auto and back to manual again.

Ok since your HW versions is 1.0 you can try the beta firmware. The beta firmware address the following issues.
Modifications and Bug Fixes
- Enhanced System Security.
- Improved overall Network Roaming experience.
- Optimized MLO Network performance.
- Improved Network Stability
- Fixed the issue that the NAT forwarding function does not work for guest wireless clients in some cases.
You can find more info about the patch at the link below

I've already installed the v1.2.0 firmware, as per my OP, when I was getting high packet loss over IPv6, and it didn't improve things.
So I tried switching to stateless on the WAN and you have to reset/kick the connection on the ISP end to make it offer SLAAC or it goes weird if you previously made a DHCPv6 request.
Both of the above things solved the packet loss, although kicking the connection alone may have been enough, but I don't want to fiddle with the IPv6 settings on the router again because it removes/deletes all my IPv6 firewall rules.

Yes, and upgrading alone didn't solve the issue.
Things seem fine now, except for the IPv6 firewall issue where entries are deleted/removed when IPv6 internet settings change.
A more minor issue is per my OP, using DHCPv6 on the WAN fails to show IPv6 IPs for the WAN IP and DNS server IPs in the app, but routing and dns lookups work, minor issue so whenever someone gets a chance to tweak things.

Ok going to let a member of the tp-link staff know about this. It shouldn't be clearing the firewall settings like that. While we wait for them to respond please look at the following post
and let us know which example best describes how your network is set up

A few other trouble shooting steps you can try while we wait for David
If your Deco system is configured for DHCPv6 on the WAN port and the Deco app isn't showing the WAN IP or DNS server IPs, here are some troubleshooting steps based on available information:
- Ensure Proper Configuration:
- Confirm your Deco is in "Router Mode" and not "Bridge Mode/Access Point Mode". IPv6 features, including DHCPv6, may be limited in Bridge Mode. If unsure, a factory reset may be necessary to return to Router Mode.
- Verify the WAN connection type in the Deco app is set to "DHCPv6" (Dynamic IP in some cases).
- If using DHCPv6, ensure "Prefix Delegation" is enabled, if that's an option provided by your ISP.
- If your ISP requires a specific Prefix Size, ensure that is also configured correctly in the Deco settings.
- Check Modem/ISP Connection:
- Unplug your modem from the power outlet, wait a few minutes, then reconnect it. This may reset the connection and allow the Deco to acquire the correct IPs.
- Ensure the Deco's WAN port is correctly connected to the modem.
- Contact your ISP to verify your IPv6 connection type (e.g., DHCPv6, PPPoE, etc.) and confirm your ISP provides IPv6 service. They may also need to provide specific configuration information for the IPv6 connection type.
- Deco App and Firmware Updates:
- Ensure your Deco app is updated to the latest version available on the App Store or Google Play.
- Check for firmware updates for your Deco units and install any available updates. Firmware updates can address bug fixes and improve IPv6 functionality.
- Other Troubleshooting:
- If you're experiencing intermittent issues, try unplugging and replugging the ethernet cable connected to the Deco's WAN port.
- If the issue persists, try resetting the main Deco unit to factory settings.
- Consider swapping the location of the satellite Deco units or the main Deco unit to rule out a faulty device.
Note: The Deco app may display IPv4 details separately from IPv6 details. Check the IPv6 settings within the app to confirm if the IPv6 WAN IP and DNS servers are listed there. Some users have found that using "SLAAC+RDDNS" or "SLAAC+Stateless DHCP" for the assigned type may be necessary for some devices, but this may cause other devices (like Androids) to not get IPv6 DNS addresses.

None of them, because the internet provider has installed a 4 port Network Termination Device, rather than a modem, which connects to a local 4G fixed wireless tower using an antenna installed on the roof.
I have the main Deco router plugged into the active port on the NTD and get IPv4 via DHCPv4/IPoE and IPv6 via stateless/SLAAC + PD request for the /48 I'm assigned, and then the other Deco is connecting to the main one via wireless back haul.
I initially had problems with connecting to the 5Ghz WiFi on a desktop, which had no problem when connecting to the old ASUS WiFi 6 router. I tracked down more recent drivers and firmware for the USB WiFi 5 adapter that has a Realtek RTL8814AU chip set, and that fixed that.
On my laptop, which has an Intel AX201 chip set, it did connect to 5Ghz but was abysmally slow, in the range of 60Mbit down and less than 5Mbit up on speedtest.net. So I got a new kernel, drivers and firmware for it and it too started to perform as well as the AX router.
My guess is the older kernel, drivers and firmware didn't support features the APs was offering., but that's not a TP-Link problem and is no longer a problem any more.
Which brings up another point, why does the app set the WiFi channels to be the same on both Deco's, wouldn't that impact performance when they interfere with each other when they aren't that far apart?

As I stated in a previous reply, both IPv6 routing and DNS lookups worked, so the router knew about them, it was just that the IPs didn't display in the app.
While on DHCPv6 when I manually entered IPs for a resolver on the LAN (pi-hole), those IPs did show.
The WAN IPv6 IP only showed after I switched from DHCPv6 to SLAAC, and then the ISPs' DNS server IPs also showed.
