Extender not connecting, encryption type error

Hello everybody, i just bought a wa854re to extend the free university network which i use everyday, because i can't get it in my bedroom.
I tried to configure it a few times but I always get the same error: "Association failed, reason: encryption type"
Sometimes i just get an "error 404".
How could I solve this problem? Thank you for your support
