Hello,

I have built a new villa and I am currently choosing the networking equipment for it. I am considering the TP-LINK ER8411 v1 VPN Router as the main gateway.

One important feature I need is a VPN kill switch — meaning that if the VPN tunnel drops, the router should block all traffic from specific LAN/VLAN networks until the VPN connection is re-established.

Could you please confirm if the current firmware of the ER8411 supports this feature (either natively or through firewall rules/policy routing)?

For context, I plan to deploy about 8 Omada access points managed through Omada SDN. The ER8411 looks ideal with its dual 10G SFP+ WAN/LAN ports, but the VPN kill switch capability is essential for my setup.

Thank you in advance for your support!

No.

The product is not intended to be a home router that gives you VPN access to a third-party VPN, and when that VPN is disconnected, to stop the traffic instantly.
