What do you mean: "without onemesh"? 

OneMesh only works with a router and extender. EasyMesh is a new universal standard launched by the WiFi Alliance

I used the standard setup method for EasyMesh (supported by the AX55) and connected a network cable between the two WAN ports in order to use ethernet backhaul (I'm in Access Point mode with an external firewall width DHCP server), but you can skip the cable and live with a little less performance (WiFi is used for backhaul).
