Well after numerous weeks of waiting for the new FW to list on the support page it hasn't UK.

Tether refuses the same password used to login to the router from a browser.

Performed.

Factory Reset.

Uninstall/re-install Tether.

Reboot phone & router multiple times.

Suspect ios26 has broken things.

You really should make us aware that the latest FW cannot be rolled back & when I came here to moan I also faced do I want to go to the UK site & your session has timed out and rejecting the login here which suggests you've shot me a FW for the USA through the Tether FW update function.

Please update the support page for the router asap & consider Apple may have broken your app recently.

I’ve run into this before, Tether sometimes gets picky about which password it wants. There’s the TP-Link ID (cloud) and the local router password, after a firmware update it may only accept the local one. Firmware through Tether should be region correct, but yeah once it’s flashed you can’t roll back and the support page is often slow to update. On iOS the latest updates have also messed with a few apps so make sure you’re on the newest Tether version

  @Vendex

Thanks,

I've made progress, another reset, another loading of the saved config which if anyone is reading does not restore your router password instead favouring the one you had to make up to enter the interface before restoring, so ensure you visit the Admin section and update to the proper password anytime you've done a restore.

Anyhow I tried Tether with the 8 digit dummy PW and it loaded straight up, I then reduced my proper password to 30 characters and still got Login failed contact etc etc etc

I now suspect something between the app and the new ios isn't chatting nicely and breaking the password once it thinks you have too many characters in it, passwords work fine at 32 characters to enter the router with a browser so it's 100% app related.

I also sorted the UK USA thing and it was the search engine that didn't like my gtf settings to stop them data collecting.
