Firmware Update 1.0.50 Build 250821 Rel. 58303n Broke My TP-Link Extenders
Hey everyone,
I just wanted to share this in case others are running into the same issue.
I received a notification through the TP-Link Tether app about a firmware update (version 1.0.50 Build 250821 Rel. 58303n) for my extenders. I went ahead and installed it—big mistake.
Right after the update finished, both of my TP-Link extenders started constantly restarting. They power on, the lights come up, and then after a few seconds, they reboot again in an endless loop.
I have two identical TP-Link extenders, and both are doing the same thing, which pretty much confirms it’s the firmware update causing it.
Here’s what I’ve already tried:
-
Factory reset using the reset button (no luck)
-
Power cycling multiple times
-
Reconnecting via the Tether app — it can’t even detect the device properly now
Both devices are out of warranty, but they were working perfectly fine before this update. Now they’re completely unusable.
Kindly provide a solution or replace my broken extenders, as they were clearly damaged by this firmware update.
If anyone knows how to roll back the firmware manually or has found a fix, please share. This update clearly broke something, and I’m hoping TP-Link will notice and release a patch soon.
Thanks in advance
