Unable to update OC200 v1 to v 6.0.0.34 version
Unable to update OC200 v1 to v 6.0.0.34 version
Hi,
I have an Omada OC200 v1 controller running Omada SDN Controller V5.15.24.21 with firmware version 1.36.7 Build 20250707 Rel.72474.
In the OC200 web interface, I see the message: “A new version of Omada Controller is available for upgrade. Release Notes for Omada SDN Controller V6.0.0.34.”
I tried to update three times. The download completed successfully, but the reboot that should follow never happened.
The OC200 responds to ping, but when I try to access its web interface, the page is not available.
The LEDs stayed on the whole time, but the OC200 became unresponsive. I had to disconnect the RJ45 cable to force a restart.
Unfortunately, it still keeps the original version.
Thank you for your help,
Pavel

Same here OC200 V1 Failed to upgrade. for the first time. I had to reboot the controller after 1h because cannot connect to it after "upgrade process". The rest of the network was still functioning switch, 2 wifi, etc. After downloading process and reboot countdown the upgrade page had gone not responding after (tried with firefox, chrome). The ping towards the controller device never halted during the upgrade and so called reboot process. So I decided to unplug the power. During controller reboot all was ok, wait to start up, adopting all the devices but the firmware was not changed and seems again ask me to upgrade - running on same firmware even after "failed upgrade" from
5.15.24.211.36.7 Build 20250707 Rel.72474
the proposed upgrade "New Controller software 1.37.10 Build 20251118 Rel.39419 is now available."
After 3 fails attempts I had to skip this upgrade. Never had this problem and upgraded couple of times. So guys you have a problem with this firmware. On my side nothing changed as configuration from months so no reason not to go this time unless something is screwed

I tried 4th times. I had an USB stick plugged in the controller for backups. I removed the USB stick and tried again. So after upgrade process rebooted and went to login page as usually edited > with correct firmware this time.

Hi,
that’s great news — I’m glad I’m not the only one having this issue. It would never have occurred to me that the USB flash disc could cause this. So everything went well in the end? There were no issues with adopting the router, switch, or Wi-Fi AP? After inserting the flash drive back in, are the previous backups visible? My entire house is controlled using TP-Link Tapo, and if the network went down, I would have a big problem.
Thank you very much for your help.

Hi @PavelV
Thanks for posting here.
On which page will the upgrade process stuck at? Do you have a screenshot of the error message?
Please try Manual Update and see if the same situation persist.
BTW, do you have a USB plugged into the OC200?

I had the same issue with this upgrade failing, and I also have a USB thumb drive plugged in for backups.
Only tried once. After it failed to upgrade I had to power cycle the OC200 before it connected to the Omada Cloud again, still running previous firmware.

I just tested this on my OC200 v1 used for testing
- Downgraded it to 5.15.24 official
- Let it boot, then pin-hole reset to be sure its "reset" fully
- On reboot, do initial wizard but not restore config file so its in a blank site-less state
- Accepted the cloud update to 6.0.0.34
It downloaded, upgraded and rebooted fine and was on v6 on restart. Accepted my config file for restore without issues
My OC200 has both POE and USB power, and i left the USB stick plugged in

Hello @Vincent-TP
the upgrade process does not get stuck anywhere. Everything looks correct: the file downloads, then the “restarting” message appears. The progress bar completes, and that’s it. After that, it’s not possible to connect to the OC200. The power (PoE) must be disconnected. Then the OC200 reconnects, and everything works as it did before the update. The firmware version remains unchanged.

Hello @GRL
if you performed a reset using the pin hole, the configuration would also have been deleted. Where was the configuration file loaded from? From a USB flash drive, or by restoring a backup from a computer after connecting to the OC200?
Thank you,
Pavel
