Firmware Version :
ISP :
Router ASUS DSL-AC68U with 2 X TPLink RE450 repeaters within range of each other. Both have their LAN port connected to a TV. DHCP server is on the Router only. Repeaters have their DHCP servers set to off. SID is the same on every device as well as both channels.
1. I can't connect to either of the extenders through their assigned ip's. It looks like one of the extenders prefers connecting to the other extender so i only see the ip of the extender connected to the router on its interface. Even if i assign a ip manually i struggle to connect to the extender. I am lucky every now and then and get connected to the extender to fiddle with its settings.
2. Extenders lose their internet connection.
Does anyone have an idea what i'm doing wrong here?

I had similar issues with loosing internet connection on the 2.4 Ghz network, but not connectivity to the extender.
Out of desperation, I tried to disable the network connection between the RE450 and m router on the 2.4 Ghz network, and hey presto, now I can connect to the RE450 on 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz just fine.
And with working internet.
I guess this means that the RE450 <-> Router connection will only run on the 5 Ghz network, but that is fine with me.

RE450 Range Extender losing connection
2016-11-10 15:02:35
Hi there. I have an issue when using a wi-fi range extender on my network. The station connects ok and all the modules work ok when just using a standard router. I have a dead spot for wifi in my kitchen when using the internet so i have set up a wi-fi extender to improve the coverage in there. trouble is when this is enabled the weather station fails to show any data and does not connect to the internet. The extender works ok with my laptop but seems to cancel the base stations connection to the main router....can any one help please?

M-Ras, how did you
disable network connection between your RE450 and your router only on over 2.4Ghz?
Did I understood correctly that your router still broadcasts/extends 2.4 GHz SSID and your devices could connect to it on this band as well. Though your RE450 is connected to your router only on 5 Ghz band.

Multi- and Broadcast connection gets lost
2016-12-11 22:37:18
Because I also have the problems mentioned I ran a series of tests. I use the RE450 to connect an Ethernet-only Mac to a remote Airport Time Machine. What I could see is this:
Point-to-Point traffic is fine (e.g. ping or http to a particular server)
[*]Multicast or Broadcast stops working after one hour (e.g. DHCP or Audio/Video streaming)
Point to point eventually stops working as well: Once the DHCP lease expires the Mac can't get a new IP address and terminates all connections.
From what I have read, any wireless client negotiates a session key with the WLAN access point. At the same time, there is a shared session key used for Multi- and Broadcast. This shared key is renegotiated every hour for all connected clients. It looks like the RE450 does not properly refresh this key, even though it shows in the RE450 log that it does receive a new key every hour.

Any news on this?
I set up the TP-Link RE450 connecting it to my 2.4Ghz router, it works for about 5-10 minutes then suddenly I cant connect to it on its assigned IP.
The wireless network it creates ( gave it a unique name to connect to it directly ) no longer lets any device connect to it. I have DHCP turned off so IP's are assigned by my router .
I have a mikrotik router.
Only thing that lets me connect to it again is a Hard Reset with the small button on the RE450

Hello,
I hope I can reply in this thread as I seem to be having a similar problem.
Device: RE450 V1
Firmware; RE450(UK)_V1_160727
I have had the extender for over 3 months and it suddenly started losing connection yesterday. A restart helps but apparently only for a short while. Logs say connection timeout, DNS probing failed etc. All the lights are on. The router it's connecting to is a BT homehub 4 (I believe.) I will contact support, although from your posts above it might not be helpful.Really annoyed as it was working perfectly before.

Am using the RE450 with the 1.0.0 Build 20161202 Rel. 56846 firmware.
It's set up as a wired link to my modem. 5Ghz is working fine, 2.4Ghz has just disappeared completely.
It says its functioning and pumping out the frequency, but no scans on any computer/smart phone show head nor tail of there being a 2.4Ghz network available to be accessed.
Tried turning it on and off again.
Just away to see if a reset will fix it, but don't really want to have to do that everytime that the network disappears on me.
