Access point loses internet connection when a device is plugged in.
I bought an archer Ax 12 router to use as an access point which i connected to my main router via lan cable. The access point works great in providing wi fi but as soon as you connect a device into one of the lan ports the ax12 loses internet connection and starts acting like a dumb switch.

When AX12 is in AP mode you should be able to use an ethernet connected devices to its LAN ports.
Assuming that your AX12 is in AP mode (Case 1) you should use an ethernet connection like this - your main router LAN port => Archer AX12 WAN port.
When in AP mode the AX12 DHCP server should be turned off.
Make sure that you're with the latest FW release for AX12 - refer to the global english support portal here.
If the issue persists try using another ethernet cable for your wired device instead.
