Unable to set up extender
Hello,
I'm new here and hoping to find help for an elderly totally confused user.
I've had the cheap and cheerful extenders in the past but all have failed after a time, so I decided to buy a tp-link RE330 (can't see what the version or firmware version is) as it's a trusted name.
Well, I've tried everything I can think of and I think you will see why and confused...
1. WPS. Power light is On and after pressing WPS on the router (EE Smart Hub Plus) (in the UK) the router flashes blue which is correct. I press the button of the extender and the signal light flashes slowly and then goes out. I've rest with paperclip but no joy either.
2. Through PC. Found "Add new extender" and followed the instructions and it says it could take 7 mins while searching for extenders, but after a while the hub reverts to normal operations (not flashing blue)
3. Using Tether on phone. This seems to get closest to success. The page shows 3 items: the extender followed by 2.4 and 5g versions. so then I go to wifi settings and then it rejects the password even when copied and pasted from the router settings.
All the above was true yesterday but today it differs because in Tether it doesn't show the extender as the EE networkname_EXT but identifies two networks, apparently BT, one 2.4G and the other as 5G. I've tried the password on them and it fails there too.
I hope, if you're still reading, that the above is clear; one this certain - that I don't understand what I'm doing wrong so if any help can be offered please keep it as simple as possible - thanks!
Best wishes,
David
