Good morning, english isn't my first language so please be patient.

I read that you can use a mesh kit as Deco X50 as access point but you have to use a lan cable between the main router and the first device of the mesh kit.

I want to set up a mesh system in a new apartment, but I have to connect it to an existing router without cable (the main router is on the opposite side of the road, about 10 meters away), the question is: can I set up it without a lan cable?

Since the new apartment is on the first floor the wi/fi signal of the main router is good in the room near the road, but I have no way to connect a cable across the road.

I presume that if I can connect the mesh kit to the main router I'll have a good signal everywhere in the new apartment the is about 150 square meters.

Thanks for your time and sorry for my broken english...at least I didn't use translators... ;-)

The staff doesn't work on weekends so that's the reason why your post went unanswered by them and I just saw it.

Unfortunately, no. Deco units cannot be set up in AP mode (or any mode) without an Ethernet connection to your existing router or modem.

The Deco system is a comprehensive, integrated Mesh network, and Deco units are exclusively designed to connect with the Deco network itself. They are incompatible with connecting to other Wi-Fi networks wirelessly. This means Deco units cannot function as Wi-Fi Range Extenders or Repeaters.

If you need to connect a Deco system to another router (including TP-Link routers or other brand routers), it can only be connected via Ethernet, not Wi-Fi. The main Deco unit must be physically connected to your existing router using an Ethernet cable to provide internet access to the Deco system.

Once the main Deco is connected via Ethernet to your router and set to AP mode, the satellite Deco units can then connect to the main Deco wirelessly (or via Ethernet) to expand your Wi-Fi coverage throughout your home.

Need help with the Deco app, setup, Ethernet backhaul, network switch or rolling back firmware? Router or AP mode? https://community.tp-link.com/us/home/forum/topic/699816?page=1
