WR740N router - wifi range has dramatically decreased

I have this tl-WR740N router and it worked great for months with a range of 20 meters, but now it is down to 1 or 2 meters.
I tried to upgrade the firmware, but the result is the same.
The channel and channel width are set to "auto".
I have tried to see if there is anything new near the antenna; I don't think so.
What options do I have?
Is it possible that something is broken?
