Feature Request: IP-to-Device Name Resolution and Dropdown Device Selection across Omada Controller
Description / Current Behavior:
Currently, the Omada Controller displays raw IP addresses in many sections of the interface without resolving them to the actual device names. This requires users to constantly navigate back and forth to the "Client List" to manually match IP addresses with devices just to understand which device is being referenced.
Additionally, anywhere the Controller requires entering an IP address (e.g., in firewall rules, profiles, or routing settings), it has to be typed in completely manually.
Requested Features:
1. IP-to-Device Name Resolution: ClientName (IP)
-
Everywhere an IP address is displayed in the UI, the system should automatically show the corresponding device name alongside it in the format:
ClientName (IP). -
This should apply to all devices where a name has been configured (all my devices are fully labeled/named).
2. Dropdown Device Selection for IP Inputs
-
Anywhere Omada currently prompts the user to manually type an IP address, there should be an option to select the device from a dropdown list.
-
This selection list should clearly display both the Client Name and its corresponding IP address for quick and error-free selection.
Value / Benefits:
-
Improved UX & Efficiency: Eliminates the need to manually double-check the client list and copy-paste or memorize IP addresses.
-
Error Reduction: Selecting a device from a predefined list prevents typos and configuration mistakes when setting up IP-bound rules.
-
Better Network Visibility: Allows administrators to immediately see exactly which device is causing an alert, triggering a rule, or consuming bandwidth without extra clicks.
