Which routers will be getting this 802.11r support?

I reported issues with roaming between my BE800 and BE550 V1 meshed routers where being on a wifi based call, it would drop out  for 10 seconds while it swtiched between routers. I opened tickets with support and basically they just wanted me to move my routers closer togther which doesn't make sense as they are connected via wired backhaul. Or also reducing the wireless transmit power, which didn't work. It seems like 802.11r helps solve this issue by allow devices to switch to another mesh AP quicker

Right now all I see is the BE550 v2 having this support. Is the BE800 and BE550 V1 not capable of supporting this? It seems features are rolling out to just a few models but higher end routers like the BE800 and GE800 are being left behind. Is there some technical limitation is some of these routers? I can't even use the mesh binding feature since the BE550 doesn't support it

TP-Link does not provide a single static list of models that support 802.11r (Fast Roaming). Instead, this standard is embedded into entire product lines—specifically Omada Business Wi-Fi, Deco Mesh Systems, and select Archer/Aginet routers. For the feature to work, both the router and your wireless clients must support 802.11r.
Product Lines Supporting 802.11r
  • Omada Access Points: All modern EAP-series access points (e.g., EAP660 HD, EAP615-Wall, EAP225, EAP725-Wall) support fast roaming, but it requires an Omada Software or Hardware Controller (like the OC200) to be actively managing your network.
  • Deco Mesh Systems: Nearly all Deco units (e.g., Deco X20, X55, M5) support 802.11r through the Fast Roaming toggle in the Deco app.
  • Archer / Home Routers: Only specific Wi-Fi 6/6E routers support this feature (sometimes under the WPA2-Enterprise or Fast Roaming settings). Standalone routers in AP mode typically do not support building an 802.11r network between each other.
