Hi all.,

i am in the process of buying Wireless repeater for my home router and i was wondering which one is better in terms of specification , wifi range and security and connectivity.

TL-WA850RE OR TL-WA855RE

i tried tp link site for more info, but all the features looks same on both of them.

both support 300 mbps which is what i need as my router is of 300 mbps

i have D-link 2526u wireless router at home and repeater will be used to connect to it.

any thoghts ?

Did you ever find out? I'm dealing now with the same decision but everything seems to be the same. I would expect the external antennas to make a difference in range but that isn't stated anywhere.

i went ahead and bought TL-WA855RE
beucase it has external antennas , and it was expensive than 850RE so i thought may be its better than 850.

i even called their customer support and asked them about it and the guy told me 855RE is better as it newer version and improved for more coverage.

hope this helps.

The 855RE is a newer version of the R850RE acoording to the information on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/TP-Link-Wi-Fi-Range-Extender-TL-WA850RE/dp/B00E98O7GC . The 850RE ($18.99) came out on August 29, 2013 and the 855RE ($19.95) on Jan 6, 2016. From its shape and internal antennas you would think the 850RE is a newer model, but it´s not. The 855RE is a better choice.

POM version with serious face. It suits it better. No idea where my Robot one is now.

TL-WA850RE is better (more functionality & stable firmware)

i tought if i buy the TL-WA855RE i would improve my range of the repeater but this model is plagued with firmware problems

1) management page stops working, need complete factory reset and re-configuration to get access again
2) if you depend op DHCP from your main router, this repeater has DHCP always enabled no matter if you select auto or off, messing up ip ranges in your network
3) lacks alot more functionality then the WA850RE except the WA855RE has a power saving function

Our company is moving to the new office,  and we are looking for some good technical equipment, anyone has worked with two models? By the way, if you need any tips for making your essays better -  HandmadeWriting
