Hello. I have recently bought an Archer C7 wifi router. The router is OK, and gives me all the funcionalities that I need, but the problem is that the 5G wifi signal dissapears some after some hours from each reboot.

If I reboot the router, the 5G wifi becomes active again, but it dissapears soon (some hours or perhaps one day). I have various 5G-capable devices (nexus 5X, chromecast and a laptop) and all of them can't found the signal, so the problem is in the router.

The 2.4 GHz wifi signal is OK.

Firmware Version: 3.15.1 Build 160616 Rel.44182n
Hardware Version:
Archer C7 v2 00000000

Somebody has the same issue or a solution? I have googled and found some posts in other forums talking about this.

I have also discovered that my recently purchased c7v2 has stopped broadcasting the 5G signal. Will download the beta firmware and give it a try.

After reading further, I have not run the beta firmware and instead sent email to TP-Link tech support. It looks to me that the firmware is for the European (EU) release of the c7, and I need have the US release. Awaiting word from support on this.

Question for TP-Link: Will these beta versions will become normal firmware versions (no beta)?

Yep, once the beta firmwares are verified that having fixed this issue for all the customers, then the changes will be added in the next official firmware release.

I knew I shouldn't have messed around updating the firmware,as the original 15o5? firmware worked fine. I live in an old two story house and when I bought the c7 (v2) (last week), I was able to get good signal strength in both 2.4 and 5G almost -50 in 5G upstairs. I updated to the 161031 and my 5G went down considerably and was unusable upstairs. I then tried the beta (170118 CA) and there is no increase in signal strength. I would like to go back to the original firmware if I can, it was a June 2015 build (unsure of the exact day).

Region: Canada
Model: Archer C7
Hardware Version: v2
Firmware Version: 170118 CA beta

I am sitting right beside the router and my 5G signal is -70 using WiFi Analyzer while 2.4G is -40

As a follow-up to my last post (hasn't been approved yet), even though the signal strength is lower than the original firmware that came with the C7, I have noticed that it is the lowest on my Nexus 4, while the Nexus 7 has a decent reading in WiFi Analyzer. That is acceptable as I use my tablet upstairs and as long as I get a reasonable connection, I'm happy. However, I did want to bring it to the dev's attention if they are interested.

I have a month to decide if I want to keep this router and if I have any unsolvable issues then I will have to return it. I would rather keep it as it looks really cool with my Darth Vader bobble-head sitting on top of it.

It was almost the same with me. I updated firmware update to correct an error in UPnP and, if on the one hand corrected this, caused me a much bigger problem because it worsened very much the intensity of the signal 5Ghz, to the point of not being able to connect more in places than with the factory firmware there was High quality signal. Does anyone know of a link to the original factory firmware, or another that corrects this 5Ghz signal strength loss bug? It was almost the same with me.
